Philanthropy

Philanthropy and campus involvement are two thing we take very seriously here at TKE. We strive for our members to have at least 15 hours of community service per semester, through non-profits both associated and disassociated with Georgia Tech.  Many of these community service projects are completed by the entire chapter, and brothers find that they often enjoy themselves during these projects.  Some events that we consistently take part in:

St. Jude “For the Kids” Volleyball Tournament

This year, on October 18, 2014, we are hosting our 9th annual “For the Kids” Volleyball Tournament, supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Our record high fundraising goal for the tournament was in 2011 when we raised approximately $3400 for St. Jude. This year, we are trying to raise the bar and beat that number. Our goal for this tournament is to create the foundation to make this a popular campus-wide event each fall.

We are expecting over 200 participants for this year’s tournament. It will be played on 2 sand volleyball courts at the Tech Campus Recreation Center, a neutral site away from the Greek community. All proceeds from this event go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a credited 501c3 organization. Our chapter is asking for donations from parents, alumni and sponsors for the tournament itself. There is also a direct donation site located at fundraising.stjude.org/goto/gatechtke.

Tech Beautification Day

A campus wide clean-up day for gardening, landscaping, large-scale maintenance, and project construction.

St. Baldrick’s Head Shaving

This past year we raised over $10000 for St. Baldrick’s Leukemia Research Foundation, making us one of the top-ranked TKE chapters nationally for money raised and community involvement.

In addition to these annual events, we also participate in Relay for Life, Freshman Move-In, Dance Marathon, and many more.
